England,
Anno Domini 1190
It is the darkest period of the English Middle Ages. King Richard the
Lionheart is on a Crusade in the Holy Land, fighting to liberate
Jerusalem from the heathens. The nobles he has left behind, led by
Prince John Lackland, rule over the simple peasants with an iron hand,
and this pure force of arms forces them to bend to authority. Only one
man takes up the struggle against the oppressors, supported by a small
band of brave and loyal followers. His name: Robin Hood.
After a long absence, Robin of
Locksley returns to
England from his adventures in the Crusades. However he feels little
joy upon returning home, since the country has changed since his
departure. The peasants are being brutally oppressed by the Norman
nobility. If anyone resists, they end up on the gallows or lose their
land. Not even the Saxon nobility is spared: While Robin was fighting
in the Holy Land, Lord Locksley – Robin’s father
–
died, and since Robin too was declared dead, his father’s
lands
have become the property of the scheming Sheriff of Nottingham.
And so begins the Legend of Sherwood.
Of Robin Hood,
the outlaw loyal to the king, who stole from the rich to give to the
poor.

handle- however his wrath is always directed at the Norman oppressors
and their henchmen.

fighting the Normans out of personal conviction since Sir Godwin was
